Story back dated from September 2018.
I have watched this clip over and over again and as bad as this hit looks, I do not believe Falcons SS Damontae Kazee hit on Panthers QB Cam Newton was intentional. I also believe that these types of hits are uncalled for and Kazee ejection was correct and he will be fined and possibly suspended a game or two. If you follow Kazee’s twitter handle, he seems like a good player that doesn’t play the game to intentionally hurt the opposing player.
With that said I know Newton was going to the ground and at that point was considered a defenseless player, and the only person that knows if the momentum of the play by Kazee could have been stopped was Kazee. These plays are a quick second decision and to Kazee’s defense, it might have been hard for Kazee to pull up or try to jump over Newton. Please don’t criticize me on that comment, I’m just saying…So my only hope is at the end of this game or sometime this week that Kazee calls or texted Newton to say he was sorry and no ill feels from both guys.
