What Sports Means to Me

Atlanta Braves open new SunTrust Park on April 14, 2017 with win over San Diego Padres

Story back dated from June 2018

For as long as I can remember sports has been a big part of my life. Either little league baseball, playing tennis with my late grandmother, high school soccer, bowling league play, or settling in with my late grandfather watching the Braves, Falcons, and Georgia Bulldogs football games together, there was always of peace when it came to sports in my life. Sports mean family to me, sports brought us together, sports was always a talking point in my family. Baseball was my first sports love, and still is. There is so much history and legends of baseball. Not to say there isn’t with the NFL and college football, but there is something about baseball that I love. As far as I can remember I watched the Braves on TBS as a young child. I then grew into watching the NFL and college football.

Now married with 3 daughters, sports is still a big part of my family. It is something that I want to bring my wife and three daughters closer. I want it to be a talking point. Like, did you catch the score of the Braves game… or I can’t wait until the Falcons win the Super Bowl…and I really mean that? Come on Falcons, lets win that big one!!! I want my kids to have an open mind to do whatever they want to pursue in life, if it is playing sports…great, if not great as well. But Sports is family…My family is Team Kirkley.
