Story Written January 15, 2019.
It has not been since 1987 that the Atlanta Braves have had significant uniform changes. This past Saturday at SunTrust Park and Battery Atlanta the Atlanta Braves opened the gates for Chop Fest. I would have enjoyed taking my family but I had other family responsibilities. In this post I wanted to talk about the updated uniforms that players showed off at Chop Fest. Take a look at the video and you will see the updated uniforms for 2019. The home white uniform had no changes. The alternate cream home uniforms that the team will wear on Saturday and mostly Sunday home games added a navy strip on the sleeve. The alternate red uniform is being brought back from the 2000 season and the team will wear that uniform for home Friday night games. The road gray uniforms had no significant changes but the alternate road navy uniform did. The 2018 navy alternate uniform had navy lettering and navy tomahawk on the front and navy numbering and lettering on the back with white trim. Too much navy if you ask me. The 2019 road navy alternate uniform is the same except for take the navy numbering and lettering on the front and back and well as the navy tomahawk, and replace that with red. This addition make this navy uniform stand out and it looks really good.
Each year all teams designate a throwback uniform. My vote is the Braves take the all red, white, and blue uniform from the 1981-1986 seasons into consideration. You can take a look at that uniform on the picture with Braves Hall of Famer Dale Murphy (3). My early recognition of growing up in the early 80’s was watching the team in this uniform. I vote for this throwback uniform since this uniform has not been a throwback yet. Now I understand uniforms do not make players play better, but it is great for the fans entertainment and they look really good. So let’s see what the Braves organization chooses as a throwback uniform once the season begins in early April.
