Catcher Brian McCann Re-signs with Braves

Story back dated from November 2018.
Today the Atlanta Braves resigned catcher Brian McCann to a 1-year, $2 million contract. McCann from Athens, Ga, was drafted by the Braves and played with the team from 2006-2013 when he was then picked up by the New York Yankees as a free agent. McCann helped the Houston Astros win a World Series during the 2017 season. Reports are he wanted to play back in Atlanta and liked the nucleus of this young team. McCann turned down more lucrative offers from other teams, but he decided to re-sign with his childhood hometown team.

There are three positives from this signing. The Braves did not spend much money for the 1-year deal, did not give up any prospects in return, and McCann can bring some veteran leadership to this young ball club. Lets just hope he still has some pop in his bat like years past. Enjoy a video below of some highlights of Brian McCann’s career.
