Just Doing Something I Love

So it was just the other night, my wife was at work and it was just me and my three daughters at the house. My kids were doing their thing as I was preparing dinner. As I was preparing dinner I had my spotify on as I usually do during this time. I was searching different artists and songs and Kiefer Sutherland came across my iPhone screen. Hmmm…I thought to myself. It was just recently my wife and I finished the ‘Designated Survivor’ season 2 on Netflix. So I was intrigued. I knew Sutherland as an actor, but not as a musician. The first song that came to my screen was the song ‘Something You Love.’ I listened to this song and I was hooked. A little rock n roll and a little country. I liked it a lot!!!

So this got me to thinking. My wife has been trying to tell me recently that I need to find something to do that I love. I spend so much time being a dad that I need to take care of my self. Well, I came up with something that I love to do, something that I can get away from everything. That something is just me and my iPad and write. I enjoy sports and writing, so why not combine both. And that’s why I came up with this blog. I might not be the best writer, but I enjoy writing and I can only go up from here.

I was out in LA last October, and under the blue California sky I began to write as ideas came to my mind. I began to write, and write, and write. And looking out over the 101, I was writing about my oldest daughter who is living with congenital heart disease. I am currently in the fourth chapter of the book and I don’t see me letting up now.

I consider myself a freelance sports writer that writes blog stories on my favorite Atlanta sports teams, including Georgia Bulldogs football. I do not get paid for this, though I wish I did, and maybe one day that opportunity will present itself.

Once my kids are older and can handle more responsibility without my help, then I will take more time writing sports stories on this blog and authoring more books.

Even though I do not know Sutherland personally, I would like to thank him for the song that has truly inspired me to keep writing. And when I get writer’s block or seem too tired to write, I listen to the song ‘Something You Love.” You can listen to a clip of the song here:
