Story written December 26, 2018.
On this day after Christmas, all the presents have been opened and the kids are all happy with what Santa brought them, I can’t help but look back on this year and be blessed. It was March of this year and all I could think of when it comes to baseball is that it would be awesome if the Braves somehow could have a winning record. Every baseball sports media outlet kept on saying the Braves are one year out from being a contender. Well, they ate those words and the Braves put up a 90-72 record and won the NL East a year early. The Los Angeles Dodgers ended their parade in the divisional playoffs. Then in year number two the Atlanta United pulled off what no other team in Atlanta professional sports history had done in 23 years since the Braves won the World Series in 1995, the United won the 2018 MLS Cup. The the Georgia Bulldogs once again had a dominant season, the only two teams that stood in their way of a national championship was the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. To finish off the season the # 5 Bulldogs will play the # 15 Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl. Win or lose, this team has turned a corner with head coach Kirby Smart to become a team to compete for championship year in and year out. And lastly I continue to dream about the time the Falcons win that big one…Keep dreaming Mark!!!
So as another year comes to an end, I pray everyone had a Merry Christmas and happy holidays. What really matters in this life is being true to the big man above, family, and the love ones you hold so dear. Looking into my kids eyes to see the excitement with the presents that they received, and holding my wife so close is all the joy I need. Happy New Year everyone and good sports mental health!!!
