Well, it’s holiday season time and what’s not to like about this time of year. I write sports, but can’t pass up writing about this season of thanks. As I was getting ready for my day job this morning I was watching “Fox and Friends” as I normally do if the TV isn’t tuned to another sports channel. As the morning news was going to commercial, music was playing in the background of the news of an all American band, Brooks and Dunn. The song was “Only in America” and that got me to thinking about how great we have it in this country. This is the greatest country in the world, my country, The United States of America. Now I’m not going to go all political, most people know my views. But the words hit me this morning of the song, “We all get a chance, everyone gets to dance, Only in America.” There is no other country in this world where the opportunity is out there, we just have work hard to achieve the opportunity. Nothing is handed to you on a silver platter, we are not entitled to anything, we have to work hard for it. The freedoms that we have in this country are unmatched.
I have the freedom is this country to work wherever I want, live wherever I want, get married to whoever I want, have kids, and take my family to the church of our liking and worship the One, True God. I have the ability to like any sports team that I want, which is not always the best team, let me rephrase that, is never the best team.
So on this Thanksgiving, say a little prayer for the freedoms that you have, and all the brave men and women of our armed forces and emergency personnel that keep us safe so we can wake up on Thanksgiving morning and celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, where our armed forces and emergency personnel might not have that chance. HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!!
