UGA QB Opts out of Season

With three weeks until the University of Georgia Bulldogs kickoff at Arkansas on September 26, graduate transfer quarterback Jaime Newman opts out of the 2020 season due to Covid-19 concerns. Newman transferred to UGA from Wake Forest. Fleet footed Newman was touted as being the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs with University of Southern California sophomore transfer JT Daniels swiftly at his heels for the number one spot as well.

Newman was a frontrunner for this year’s Heisman Trophy, but that will not be happening now. More than likely Newman will prepare himself for the 2021 NFL Draft. I think with Newman opting out, this hurts his chances as a top pick at the draft.

QB JT Daniels

No word as of yet who Head Coach Kirby Smart will name as starter, but more than likely it will be Daniels. It would be his to lose I assume. Daniels was suppose to be the freshman starter for USC last year, but leg injuries set him back. Daniels has a cannon arm and can be lethal in the Bulldog’s offense.
