Dan Quinn’s Job Could Be Safe…For Now

Atlanta Falcons’ fans are furious and fed up with the lack luster play they have seen from their team this year. After a promising finish last year going 6-2 in the final eight games of the season, this year was hope to to be a turnaround season and possibly a playoff run for the team. But going 0-3 in the first three games have people calling for Owner Arthur Blank to fire Head Coach Dan Quinn…NOW!!! But in a report from profootballnetwork.com, that might not be the case right now.

According to the article, Blank is giving Quinn the chance to turn this season around. The end goal is the playoffs for the Falcons’, and if they do not make the playoffs, once they are eliminated look for Quinn to be gone. If the Falcons make the playoffs, look for Quinn’s job to be safe at least for another year.

This team has the talent. On offense they have QB Matt Ryan, the Alabama duo wide receivers Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, and Todd Gurley who is trying to show the league he can still play with multiple injuries from the last couple years. The offense hasn’t been the problem, it has been Quinn’s defense. Quinn is a defensive minded coach, and he has put the reigns of running the defense on Raheem Morris. But for the last two games the have blown two fourth quarter leads of 15 points to the Dallas Cowboys and a 16-point lead to the Chicago Bears. This team has not shown they can finish games and hold on to the lead. This leads back to the Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots in 2017. Since that loss, the Falcons are just 24-27.

Many things can happen between now and the end of the season. There is time that this team can turn things around, but there is also a chance that this team could sink deeper and deeper in the loss column.

The Falcons will now travel to the frozen tundra of Green Bay for a Monday night matchup against the 3-0 Green Bay Packers.
