Wow, and just like that the Falcons are playing good football. But still at 3-6, there might be a chance, but a very small chance they could win out. But the Falcons still have to play the Saints and Buccaneers twice. Atlanta has already played the Carolina Panthers and are 1-1 this year against Carolina. If Falcons win out that would put them at 10-6 and a most definite playoff spot. It would also mean 99.99% chance that interim Head Coach Raheem Morris would be head coach full time. But a lot has to change between now and then.
Let’s go back a month ago, the Falcons were sitting at 0-5 with a top 3 pick in next year’s draft, Head Coach Dan Quinn and GM Thomas Dimitroff both get fired on the same day. In steps in Defensive Coordinator Raheem Morris as interim head coach and President Rich McKay steps in as active GM. McKay use to be GM for Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons as well. Since the firing of Quinn and Dimitroff, the Falcons are 3-1 and have won two in a row beating Carolina Panthers 25-17 and the Denver Broncos 34-27. Offense hasn’t been the issue this season, consistency of the offense has at times. The Falcons’ offense among the league ranks fifth scoring 243 points, 27, points per game, 961 rushing yards, 106.8 yards per game, passing yards 2610, average passing per game 290, total combined yards 3571, and total yards per game.

If the defense wasn’t giving up 30 points a game we would be talking a different senario right now. I think the Falcons could easily be 7-2 after nine games. With legitimate losses to Seattle and Green Bay, the Falcons should have beat Dallas, Chicago, first game versus Panthers, and Lions. All these four games the Falcons were winning late, but the ultimate outcome was a loss when the clock hit double zero.
I like playing around with this stat on social media. The Atlanta Falcons are 3-0 when they wear their white jersey tops, and 0-6 when wearing black jersey tops. This is not really true, but fun to talk about.
The Falcons enter week 10, their bye week today at 3-6 and in third place in the NFC South. See full ranking from my NFL page. So back to work this week as the Falcons play at New Orleans Saints next Sunday.
