No, I haven’t forgotten about my blog. It has been such a while since I actually sat down to write. Since this blog is for pure fun, wish I did get paid for it, maybe one day. I have to put the blog aside when other matters of life come first. So much has happened since I last wrote. Of course, the Braves won the World Series. Three months after winning the trophy I still can’t believe it. With that being said, MLB is currently on strike, of course, because players want more money, and there’s also other bargaining negotiations going on with the agreement, that hopefully will resolve itself shortly. I mean, spring training is suppose to begin late next month. And what about 1B Freddie Freeman and his new contract. Well, as of today, Jan 25, 2022, there is not one. And there will not be a contract during the lockout. It would be stupid for both sides to agree on a contract currently because of no bargaining agreement. Look for Freeman to be signed within 48 hours once the lockout is over. Both the Yankees, of course the Yankees, and the Blue Jays have interest if the Braves do not sign Freeman. There is also rumors that the Braves might be interested in Oakland Athletics 1B Matt Olson, if Freeman signs elswhere. Olson is four years younger than Freeman. Blame it on the lockout. Hopefully a new bargaining agreement will be agreed upon by the owners and players association soon so we can get back to talking baseball and the reigning World Series Champions, Atlanta Braves. Wow…it feels good to say that.

Oh, I guess I haven’t mentioned that the Georgia Bulldogs beat the Alabama Crimson Tide to take the National Championship, a reward that the Bulldogs haven’t achieved in 41 years, which was the 1980 season and RB Herschel Walker’s freshman season. It was a beautiful season as the Bulldogs went 15-1 to claim the title. It wasn’t looking so good after they lost to the Crimson Tide 42-21 in the SEC Championship game. The game where I thought it doesn’t matter what Georgia does, The Tide or Nick Saban just have the Dawgs number. But it all turned to good when Georgia won 33-18.

The Falcons ended their season 7-10. Rember there was one added regular season game and one preseason game taken away. The Falcons won more games than I thought they would. Head Coach Arthur Smith and GM Terry Fontenot are no nonsense guys that I believe will turn this team around from the mess the Head Coach Dan Quinn and GM Thomas Dimitroff left. Wide Receiver Julio Jones jetted off to Tennessee where he was injured most of the season and only had one touchdown which game in the last regular season game. Wide Receiver #2 turned #1 Calvin Ridley stopped playing because of mental issues and it looks like Fontenot is placing Ridley on the chopping block. Falcons played without Jones and Ridley and still won seven games, the Falcons can play without these guys. But defense is still the issue and it always will be. The offense has to score 40 to win, and sometimes that is hard to score that many points. But another season forthcoming brings new life, and it will be with QB Matt Ryan, and hopefully a new, or improved offensive line.
