And if you think someone can’t get any dumber…you haven’t met Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Just before week six game of the 2021 season versus the Miami Dolphins, Ridley took a leave of absence from the team, as he deemed, for mental issues. Ok, I’m not going to argue with that, because people are different and go through some tough times. But later in the season away from the team, he gambled on games during the week of November 5. Gambling on games is legal…for fans, but not for players. He even went as far as to gamble on his own team, the Falcons.
Ridley is set to earn $11 million for the 2022 season, and he ruins his career by gambling $1,500. That is just plan stupid. Then he goes on social media and says it was only $1500 and then writes LOL!!!. The app that he was using alerted the NFL of his gambling.
Punishment for Ridley is he is suspended for the entire season, plus he doesn’t get the $11 million owed him. The good thing for the Falcons is the team can add that $11 million back to their salary cap this upcoming year which is suppose to top off at $208.5 million for each team. The bad thing for the team is they will try to trade him next year when he is reinstated. There will be some teams that will try to trade for him. But I believe his days are done in Atlanta.
