It was a hot summer morning but it was a Nascar type of Sunday morning. Time for the Quaker State 400 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. But this time I had a special guest with me. That guest was my 10 year old, oldest daughter who was attending her first race, my second race. Ice cold water, snacks, and lunch packed and off we went. She was so excited. Kirkley tradition is wherever we go, we get there early. And this race was no different. My daughter wants to come back for the spring race, where of course, it will not be so hot.
Knowing that this race was going to be hot, I intentionally bought two tickets for us under the awning cover. It was hot, but we didn’t have the sun right on us, we had cover. But frozen bottled water did the trick along with ice cold towels that the speedway provided for us that we wrapped around our necks.
It was a fun day at the speedway where our hometown driver, Chase Elliot was on the poll, and won his second straight race. Elliot is currently leading in points for the playoffs with 684 points.
