It was May 28 and star centerfielder for the Double A Mississippi Braves Michael Harris II was called to the majors. The Braves were trying to do some shifting around finding that perfect fit for center. Center fielder Cristian Pache didn’t turn out and he was in the trade to the Athletics that brought 1B Matt Olson was brought over.
Harris’s nick name is ‘Money Mike’ because it seems all he does is make plays with his bat and out in the field. Harris has speed and makes miraculous catches and has power at the plate. As of last night’s 5-0 victory against the Mets, Harris is batting .287, 12 homeruns, 39 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases.
Harris, 21, is labeled as the next Andruw Jones for the Braves, and he was rewarded yesterday with an 8-year extension, with two extra option years, worth $72 million. If he plays out the two option years, he could earn close to $100 million over the 10 years.
