The Atlanta Falcons last changed their uniforms back in 2020 to try to bring in a new decade, new era of Falcons’ football. But all it seemed to bring is losing records. The last time the Falcons had a winning season was 2017, one year after QB Matt Ryan led the Falcons to their 2nd Super Bowl appearance in team history. This is the current team uniforms with the red/black gradiant uniform combo gone, and the throwback uniform helmet has changed from the black to the fan favorite red helmet.
There has been talk, but not confirmed, that the Atlanta Falcons have requested through the NFL a uniform change for the 2026 season. Teams in the NFL have to keep a current uniform for five years, and that time is up for the Falcons.
Ever since the current uniform came out in 2020 for the 2021 season, fans have despised the above uniforms, except for the throwback with the black or red helmets. The ATL just looks arena football like. And the font on the numbers are just bad. Not to knock the person(s) or company who designed the new uniform, but it could have been better. The Falcons have a losing record with these uniforms, but a 16-3 record when wearing the throwbacks.
So if the rumors are true, what are some ideas of what the uniforms will look like? There are reports that the Falcons could go back old school, retro look, with red helmets, red jerseys, with white and black jerseys as well, with grey/silver pants. The grey/silver pants just look sharp. I like the old school look, but will be perfectly okay with current logo with old school uniforms.
Combining the old with the new for a new concept doesn’t look bad but going back to the retro logo or keeping the current is okay with me too.
Back in 2003 when the Falcons went to a newer design, I really didn’t like it then either because the old school, retro uniforms were the best. That’s just one fan’s opinion
I’m not one to dabble in designs, so I’ll post a few of the new uniforms that I like, in hoping the Falcons are really updating their uniforms. The only thing I don’t like about the third design is the ‘Falcons’ wording across the chest. Take that off and just have the NFL logo stay.
So here’s to hoping that the change will come true and this isn’t just rumors that die out after the beginning of the year. The NFL Draft will take place late April. If true, the organization with confirm sometime late February early March with a reveal date sometime early April, so the new logo/new uniforms will be on display come draft weekend.
